D2 elementary schools to benefit from new robotics kits

New robotics kits are on their way to District Two’s elementary schools thanks to the Colorado Elementary Computer Science Program.

The kits include a Sphero SPRK, Ozobot Evo, and other materials that help students learn computer science and coding basics.

The program, led by mindSpark Learning, is designed to inspire computer science pathways in all grades, and is made possible by support from Code.org and the Gill Foundation.

As part of the program, robotics kits were offered to 150 elementary schools across the state.

District Two teachers and staff took part in two professional development workshops focused on computer science, strategies for teaching using the kits, and an overview of the online curriculum.
