Panorama breaks ground on outdoor learning space

Panorama Middle School broke ground on an innovative outdoor learning space April 26.

Students, district administrators, and members of the design and construction teams dug in their shovels, marking the unofficial start of construction on a project that began in 2016.

That's when Panorama was awarded $449,356 as part of a Colorado Health Foundation grant.

The school then collaborated with students, staff, families, and its community partners to plot out what the learning space would look like and its features.

When complete later this year, the learning environment will feature a climbing rock, walking path, a multi-purpose court, an outdoor classroom, social seating areas, and new vegetation.

Three Sixty Design was responsible for the planning and layout of the project, while Blackmouth Builders will be tasked with construction.

The goal of the project is to create a safe and welcoming outdoor learning environment that provides opportunities to increase physical activity for students and the surrounding community.
