Healthy School Champion awards recognize schools across Colorado that promote healthy school environments and implement engaging health initiatives that support student learning.

Sand Creek hosts several wellness initiatives, including a walking classroom for students and a yoga group for staff.

Healthy School Champion Awards are presented by the Colorado Education Initiative and Colorado's Healthy Schools Successful Students program, and sponsored by the Colorado Health Foundation.

The program has given more than 315 awards and granted more than $350,000 over the past eight years in the range of $300 to $7,500 per champion.
