Eight D2 students named finalists for Daniels Fund Scholarship
As many as eight District Two students could earn full tuition to the college of their choice thanks to the Daniels Fund Scholarship.
Four seniors from both Harrison and Sierra High School have been named finalists for the prestigious award.
The students include: Harrison seniors Ana Palacios, Estevan Deboer, Carlos Cielo, and Brian Gainer, and Sierra seniors Daizha Brown, Taijeron Hooks, Angel Orozco, and Kiara Tibbs.
The students began the lengthy application process in September, and will be interviewed by a selection committee in the coming weeks before winners are announced in late March.
Daniels Fund Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming; the eight District Two students are among 257 finalists in Colorado.
The Daniels Fund Scholarship Program recognizes student applicants who exhibit strength of character, leadership potential, commitment to serving their communities, academic performance or promise, and a well-rounded personality.
Since 2000, Daniels Scholars have attended more than 400 colleges and universities in 49 states.
As of June 2017, the Daniels Scholarship Program has provided more than $154 million in undergraduate scholarships to more than 3,700 students.
