Our Story

Harrison School District 2 (D2) is proud to be the second-oldest district in El Paso County. We have a long history of supporting students and families by going the extra mile.

The mission of D2 is to graduate college- and career-ready students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors to personally succeed and contribute to the common good.

We will be successful as a district by ensuring the core beliefs are at the center of everything we do with our students and community. These beliefs include:

  • All students are capable of excellence
  • Our purpose is to maximize student success
  • The well-being of our students, staff, families, and community is worthy of our investment

District 2 offers options to suit your child's learning style. You will join an education family that believes your child can and will succeed. We honor an open enrollment policy where students can enroll in one of our nine elementary schools, four K-8 schools, one 6-12 online school, two middle schools, two high schools, one career readiness academy, an International Baccalaureate program, a home school program, or three charter school systems.

We also offer free full-day kindergarten, free preschool education to those who qualify, and free transportation and extracurricular activities. Students in grades 2nd-12th are provided with a laptop and internet assistance when needed. Our students thrive with gifted education programs at each campus, special education programs at each campus, and award-winning culturally- and linguistically diverse education. Advanced Placement (AP) and Concurrent Enrollment programs are offered to our high school students at no cost. We now offer a complete IB program from the early years through the Diploma program.

Another reason for choosing us is this unprecedented opportunity for students attending one of our District 2 high schools. D2 has America’s first publicly funded first-dollar Promise program-The D2 Promise Scholarship Program (D2 Promise) pays for all tuition and fees at Pikes Peak State College (PPSC). With college costs covered, students can utilize federal and state financial aid to cover living expenses, allowing them to focus on their education. Our students also have dedicated Promise coaches, academic support, and student success programming. When D2 voters approved the mill levy in November 2024, the community committed up to $2 million annually for 10 years (through 2035) to ensure students can focus on their education instead of working multiple jobs to afford college. All D2 graduates are eligible, and to learn more, visit the D2 Promise website

We believe in providing our students with access to opportunities beyond the classroom, and we strive to establish and nurture relationships with community partners who can help us do just that. In short, we do things differently. It’s just who we are!
