Public Comment Guidelines

The Harrison School District Two Board of Education holds its regular business meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held in the Board Room in the Administration Building, at 1060 Harrison Road.

Harrison School District Two welcomes all views on subjects related to Harrison School District Two and encourages attendance by community members, staff, and students.

In preparation for the meeting, an agenda is provided which details the items to be discussed by the Board. Provided in the agenda is a Public Comment section which allows members of the public to address the Board. Since the Board desires to hear the viewpoints of citizens of the school District, and also needs to conduct business in an orderly and efficient manner, the Board President will follow guidelines outlined in this document in accordance with Board policy. 

To speak to the Board concerning an agenda item or for General Public Comment: 

  • The individual must sign the Public Participation Sign-In Sheet provided at the entry table. This sheet will be delivered to the Board President prior to the respective agenda section of the meeting. The Board President will recognize those individuals that have signed up to address the Board. 
  • When recognized by the Board President, please stand, step to the podium, state name, address, school your child attends, and proceed with comments within a three-minute time limit.
  • No person should speak for more than three minutes.
  • No person shall orally initiate charges or complaints against individual District employees or Board of Education members. Such charges or complaints shall be presented to the Superintendent or Board in writing, signed by the complainant.
  • Defamatory or abusive remarks are always out of order, and after being called to order, the speaker’s privilege of address will be terminated. 
  • If more than one person wishes to speak on the same topic, appoint a spokesperson if the concern is a group concern. 

Caution: For liability purposes, the public is cautioned against making accusations that may prove to be false after a thorough investigation is completed by school District officials.

Board or Administrative Responses to Public Comment: 
Items presented during the Public Comment section may be addressed in any or all of the following ways: 

  • The board will not respond to any public comment, we will review the information presented and provide responses as needed at a later time.
