Attendance
Harrison School District 2 is joining the Colorado Department of Education and other districts in the Every School Day Matters! campaign to promote good attendance. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in your child’s success. Students learn best when they are at school on time every day.
Did you know?
• Missing just 2–3 days each month adds up to a full month of missed school by year’s end.
• When many students are absent, it affects the whole class—even those who attend regularly.
• In Colorado, 1 in 4 students was chronically absent last year.
• Attendance rates still haven’t fully recovered since the pandemic.
Our goal is to prevent chronic absenteeism (missing more than 2 days a month) and habitual truancy (4 unexcused absences in a month or 10 in a year).
If your child is absent, please call the school’s office. Absences must be approved and may require documentation. We will be communicating with you when your student misses school in order to support their growth.
We want every student to feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. We will do our best to listen to and partner with families, ensuring that students have a successful year.
Families play a huge role in supporting student attendance. Make sure we have your current contact information on file. Your school's registrar can assist with updating your email and phone number. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Your partnership in this effort will help set our students up for success!
