What is AVID?
AVID is a college readiness system that is designed to increase school-wide learning and performance. The AVID teacher and students become a family that supports each other in the educational process. It incorporates college field trips, tutorials, organization binders, teamwork, and study skills to ensure students succeed and achieve in high school, college, and the real world.

Carmel Community School is proud to be a certified AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school. AVID fosters a safe and open culture, high expectations for teachers and students, and collaboration in all classrooms. We offer the AVID elective course for selected students in grades 6-8. We also have highly trained AVID teachers throughout Carmel to ensure all students have opportunities to reach their maximum potential in WICOR-writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading. With AVID, Carmel Middle School can provide additional opportunities to ensure all students receive equitable education to prepare them for college, career, and life beyond K-12 education.
