Now that I am going into my 9th year as Wildflower Elementary principal (I was also the A.P. for 4 years), I have got to know parents and guardians and have formed relationships over the ten years I have been at Wildflower. I have also been able to watch the success of Wildflower students over the years and I am very proud to be a part of that success. I want to ensure parents and students that academic excellence and high expectations will continue at Wildflower. The staff at Wildflower has a commitment to high academic achievement and a commitment to student success and has proven this time and time again. In 2011 and again in 2017, we were selected as a National Blue Ribbon School for closing the achievement gap. Our core beliefs help us to drive instruction and ensure that all students reach their full potential and are college-ready.

In 2016, Wildflower was selected by the state as the #1 Title I School in the State of Colorado for closing the achievement gap.

Furthermore, Wildflower was pronounced one of the winners of the Urban School Award in 2018.

I received my bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree as a Reading Specialist from Valdosta State University in Georgia and my principal licensure from UCCS in Colorado Springs. Before that, I taught eight years in an elementary school in Georgia and eight years in Colorado Springs. During my teaching career, I have also been a Literacy Coach. I just completed my 28th year as an educator. Teaching is my passion and I, myself, am a life-long learner.

I have two beautiful daughters and enjoy spending time with them. Georgia Bulldogs (Go, Dawgs!) are my favorite college football team, and the Denver Broncos (Go, Broncos!) are my favorite NFL team. I am honored to be the principal of a great school in a great school district. I look forward to working with parents, students, and the community to continue to make Wildflower the best school it can be.

    Increasing Learning for ALL,

    Wendy Godwin
