About Bricker Elementary

  • Welcome to Wayne Bricker Elementary School ~ Home of the Bobcats!

Bricker Elementary is a large public elementary school nestled in a neighborhood located on the southeast side of Colorado Springs. It was built in 1980 and named after Wayne Bricker, a former Harrison School District 2 Superintendent. During his years of service, Wayne was Superintendent of the Year, 1975; Educator of the Year, 1977; and received many other awards in the field of education.

Bricker Elementary is committed to the achievement of every student. This is visible through our dedication to high-quality instruction, programs, and community connections for our students. We provide outstanding music, art, and physical education for all students in addition to impactful core instruction. This fall we will use Wonders for English Language Arts (K-2), Thinking Maps, Write Tools, and Eureka for Mathematics. We provide additional opportunities for scholars who qualify in Gifted & Talented, Special Education, and Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education. We implement social and emotional learning through the Leader in Me program which is based on Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. We stress the importance of Leadership in all that we do and use the Covey model to guide us.
Our students live the 7 Habits Daily:
    Habit 1: Be Proactive
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Habit 3: Put First Things First
    Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand and then to be Understood
    Habit 6: Synergize
    Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

After school, Bricker students can participate in Academic Tutoring, Intramural Sports, Student Lighthouse, Art Club, Minecraft, Coding, and Science Club. Bricker Elementary also has active involvement from the local community. The school is partnered with an Adopt-a-Soldier unit, 2-12 FA, housed at Fort Carson. Soldiers come to Bricker to help with after-school events, lunch buddies, and tutoring. CenturyLink and Care and Share have partnered to provide twenty backpacks of non-perishable food on a weekly basis for Bricker families. Bricker Elementary also partners with SEATO Mentoring, Woodmen Valley Chapel, Beyond the Walls Church, and the Holy Apostles Catholic Church.
