Meet Pikes Peak Library District

Sarah Sharples, Branch Manager for Sand Creel Library, tells us that her branch is the single point of contact for all the D2 schools and the Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD). D2 and PPLD have a robust partnership to include PowerPass, a just-for-students library card granting access to the Library’s digital resources like databases, eBooks, and song and movie downloads. Each PowerPass holder can check out five physical items at a time from any PPLD location or mobile library service. Sara also encourages the D2 community to visit the Sand Creek library to engage in all the free offerings beyond books.

You may want to check out the free computer labs and printers, MakerSpace complete with kiln, 3D printers and sewing machines, laser engravers, photo editing and more. If you are into music or recordings, reserve the studio equipped with professional recording equipment and software. Just use the library to get connected to local resources or to host a meeting. Stop by to meet your neighbors and take a class, or maybe you want to take in story hour with your children.

EyeLoveCare Inc.

Meet EyeLoveCare Inc. - No Vision Left Behind

Harrison School District 2 proudly partners with Keegan Meyer and EyeLoveCare Inc. to bring the No Vision Left Behind program directly to our schools. This program provides our students with on-site eye exams and, if needed, a free selection of glasses. Families are never burdened by costs—insurance is billed first, and if coverage isn’t available or affordable, students receive glasses at no cost. What started at Centennial Elementary now reaches across D2 and all of Colorado. By ensuring access to vision care, we help remove barriers to learning and support our students' success.

COSILoveYou

Meet COSILoveYou

COSILoveYou is a nonprofit partner engaged in many ways with D2 to help our community flourish. They believe that strong and healthy schools help neighborhoods to thrive. For more than six years, D2 has been involved in the annual Backpack Bash, Fall and Spring City Serve projects in our D2 schools and a citywide leadership dinner. In January 2023, COSILoveYou and School Connect COS (Powered by COSILoveYou) helped D2 to launch our first Community Café that has grown and is highly attended twice a year now. These events bring partners to the table with our schools to help support the individual needs identified by the principal and a school team each year. The Café is helping D2 to build a team around each school. These partners meet regularly to advance action plans specifically built with and for their individual school.

A caring, committed sphere of partners working together to seek the best possible future for students, families, schools, and neighborhoods. Alone, each of these partners can only do so much to provide support, but the model thrives when multiple partners agree to work together in supporting the vision of a nearby school.
Community Teams are comprised of individuals representing churches, businesses, non-profits, civic organizations, and households who want to help the school succeed in giving the next generation hope for their future.

Meet Pikes Peak United Way

The Family Success Center, located at 1520 Verde Drive, is a Pikes Peak United Way service center. There you can find a wide variety of services and supports for all generations of our community. From Adult Education, ESL and GED classes, Business Entrepreneur mentorship, Life Coaching, a no-cost grocery store, a physical and mental health care provider, certification programs, free sports and financial literacy for children, and much more! We welcome all community members to come and explore our services and offerings!

We are open Monday through Thursday, 8 am - 8 pm and Friday 8 am - 5 pm. We also have bilingual staff members to assist the community as needed.
