• Harrison School District Two is experiencing the same challenges as other school districts with COVID-19 on the rise in our community. When positive cases lead to students/staff needing to quarantine for 10-14 days, those student and staff absences greatly impact the in-person learning environment. We are also aware of the high number of COVID-19 cases in the zip codes that serve our school district. While these cases are not necessarily in our school community, they impact our neighborhoods and the places our families frequent. Harrison School District Two believes we must do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community to protect students, staff, and their families.

    As a result, we have decided to move our schools (K-12) to eLearning immediately after Thanksgiving break until winter break begins (Monday, November 30, 2020, through Thursday, December 17, 2020). This timeframe of eLearning will provide a better educational experience for our students and families and provides you with the time you need to plan for this change.

    The District is committed to providing student meals during these 14 eLearning days. A grab and go sack will be available from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on school days at Sierra High School, Fox Meadow Middle School, Pikes Peak Elementary, Centennial Elementary, Soaring Eagles Elementary, Sand Creek International, Stratton Meadows Elementary, Stratmoor Hills Elementary, Mountain Vista Community School and Bricker Elementary. Families must use the online order form found on the District website each day to be able to pick up a meal for their students.

    Technology support for students will also be available. The Family Help Desk is available from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. M-Th and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Fridays.

    Families can also enter help tickets through the student login portal at my.hsd2.org. Our goal is to respond within 24 hours, if not the same day. Technicians will do all they can to assist remotely. In the event remote assistance cannot resolve the issue, families can make appointments for service and updates or can complete a device swap at designated school sites.

    The Southeast YMCA will offer drop-in Child Care while HSD2 is on an eLearning schedule. Cost is $40/day with discounted rates available when parents sign up for an entire week. The YMCA also accepts CCAP (Child Care Assistance Program) as well as offers financial assistance for families in crisis. Parents can select the days they need, and will not be required to choose all 14 days. Any D2 family participating in the YMCA’s Before & After Care at their school will not be charged their monthly fee for the month of December. Registration is via email at childcare@ppymca.org. The YMCA will provide a designated space for eLearning in the morning with some assistance from staff while offering enrichment in the afternoons.

    The Boys and Girls Club of the Pikes Peak Region is offering Day School Distance Learning Support for FREE. Monday - Friday 7:30 am – 5:30 pm for ages 6-18 from November 23-December 18, 2020.     The District will remain flexible with our plans as we watch the current positivity rate in our community and wait for updates from El Paso County Health, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Our Governor, and local city and county officials.
