Dear Turman Families,
I am looking forward to returning for the 2022-2023 school year as the principal at Turman Elementary School. My name is Jana Thomas, and this will be my 19th year working for Harrison School District #2. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado and my master’s degree from Argosy University out of Denver. I spent twelve years as a classroom teacher, teaching all grades K-5. I was also a literacy coach for two years before moving into administration.
I am originally from western Nebraska but have lived in Colorado for over twenty years with my husband. We have two daughters and two granddaughters. As a family, we enjoy camping, hiking, and playing board games. I also enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and gardening when time allows.
I have loved being at Turman for the past five years working with the amazing staff and getting to know all the wonderful students and families. I am excited about the opportunity to meet the needs of our students and families as we continue to build meaningful relationships and give students the strong start they need to be successful with wherever life may take them.
Jana Thomas, Principal
